Tigers fall to New Pal 1-4

It was a tough loss for the Tigers against a deep conference rival New Palestine, with varsity losing 4-1 and junior varsity losing 10-1. The weather was superb for well over an hour of play, then the swirling winds and storms started rolling in, making the second half of most of the matches completely different than the first. Varsity was without Alysse at 2S and Jules at 2D, so we made a few changes and freshmen Claire Carder and Emma Wolfert stepped up their games and played at 3S and 2D respectively. Well done and great job handling the extra pressure! Jillian and Hannah had two extremely exciting matches at 1 and 2 Singles. Jillian's first set against Arabella Deisher took 90 minutes to close out where she won in a tiebreaker 7-5, then it took Jillian about 20 minutes to defeat 6-0 in the second, stepping up her game to hit a lot more winners and dominate play. Hannah also had a spectacular match, taking the first set 6-2 against a very strong Bethany Blachly with stellar play from both the baseline and net. Blachly then couldn't miss and was on fire, beating Hannah 6-0 in the second. Third set was much closer than the score showed, with Hannah getting back to her aggressive play, but Blachly held her ground and won the match 6-2 in the third. Really great playing! 1S - Jillian defeated Deisher 7-6(5),6-0 2S - Hannah lost to Blachly 2-6, 6-0,6-2 3S - Claire lost to Mitchell 6-0,6-0 1D - Rhen/Isabelle lost to Haynes/Watts 6-2,6-1 2D - Emma/Georgia lost to Beller/Ballard 6-2,6-0 Junior Varsity: 1S - Sofia lost to Walter 7-5 2S - Ryleigh (in her first-ever singles match) lost to Munson 6-1 1D - Adrianna/Nicky lost to Appleby/Graham 6-0 2D - Sophia/Caity lost to Hart/Kennard 6-0 3D - Natalia/Emilee lost to Mitchell/Armstrong 6-1 4D - Lexi/Ana lost to Ferree/Fox 6-0 5D - Dejah/Avery lost Thomas/Weller 6-0 PB - Sophia/Ryleigh were down 4-5 when the rain started PB - Adrianna/Nicky won 7-5 PB - Caity/Sophia lost 6-1 PB - Natalia/Emilee lost 6-2 PB - Lexi/Ana were tied 4-4 when the rain started PB - Dejah/Avery were down 1-2 when the rain started PB - Natalia/Emilee were down 0-2 when the rain started Varsity is now 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference, and Junior Varsity is 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the HHC.
