It was crazy windy today at the Hotdog Invite, where Tigers lost round 1 to a strong Greencastle team 0-5 and won the 3rd place round against Frankfort 5-0. Jillian's shoulder was bothering her during the Shenandoah match and continued to do so this morning, so we decided to bench her in light of Sectionals coming up on Wednesday; plus Rhen was absent this weekend from 2D. So for Rd 1 we had Hannah at 1S, Alysse at 2S, Claire at 3S, Jules/Georgia at 1D, and Isabelle/Ryleigh at 2D. Hannah ran into a very strong Landry where she lost 0,0 but played probably the best match she has all season. Hannah tracked down tons of balls, playing great defense against Landry's strong groundies, and taking her on with her own offense as well - all the while staying super positive throughout the match. Even the Frankfort coach came up to me to comment how well she was playing and how wonderful her attitude was. Well done Hannah! And both Alysse at 2S and Jules/Georgia at 1D both fought hard, going three long sets against tough opponents. With a few points here and there going differently, we had a chance to take this match overall. For the next round against Frankfort for 3rd place, it was Hannah, Alysse, and also Isabelle for singles (this was her first chance to play singles all year), plus Jules/Georgia and Ryleigh/Emma. Everyone took care of business pretty quickly, with the total games scores lost for the match at 7. Well done! Round 1 - Greencastle 1S - Hannah lost to Landry 0,0 2S - Alysse lost to Fowler 6-7(3), 6-4, 10-5 3S - Claire lost to Amis 1,2 1D - Jules/Georgia lost to York/Dibble 6-4, 4-6, 10-3 2D - Isabelle/Ryleigh lost to Knuth/Amis 3,1 Round 2 - Frankfort 1S - Hannah defeated Wilder 1,1 2S - Alysse defeated Castro-Hernandez 0,0 3S - Isabelle defeated Barton 3,0 1D - Jules/Georgia defeated Gabe/Sanders 0,1 2D - Ryleigh/Emma defeated Martinez Cisneros/Rivera 0,1 So the Tigers finished the regular season with an overall record of 13-5 - really awesome season!!! Next up is Round 1 of Sectionals on Wednesday and we find out who we draw between Muncie Central, Burris, or Delta on Monday around 7:00 pm. Let's go Tigers!
