Dual @ Trojans Varsity vs New Castle (185 - 202) Win ----------------- Your Yorktown Lady Tigers golf squad began the year on the road @ New Castle, specifically Westwood Golf Club. The Tigers were victorious in the battle, with four counting scores in the 40s to begin the 2025 campaign. Leading the way was sophomore match medalist Lindsey Mathews, who made three pars and fired a +7 round of 43. Lindsey is hitting the ball deeper than her freshman season and continues to showcase a golf maturity well beyond her age. Yorktown got a pair of 47s from senior leader Grace Turner and freshman Lilly Duncan, who was impressive in her debut. Grace and Lilly will be massive keys to the success of this squad, as we look to Grace for leadership; meanwhile, Lilly is a talented freshman coming off an excellent summer, including an 81 in an ECI tournament at the Muncie Elks. Alysse Taylor, a junior, rounded out the scoring with 48. Alysse continues to murder the golf ball and is an outstanding teammate whose approach to her game has improved as she has shown tremendous growth thinking her way around a golf course. Lucy Melton's 51 was a few strokes behind. While not the start Lucy was seeking to launch her second season of golf, we have no doubt Lucy will get it going (she has an appointment with Coach on the driving range, approximately 3:13 Eastern Standard Time this afternoon). Seniors Lilly Miller and Emma Reynolds also got in some competitive golf yesterday, as did Addison Whittenburg. On a very large squad (upwards of 21, as the coaching staff organizes a developmental program of sorts), Lilly and Emma provide excellent upperclassmen leadership. Addison, meanwhile, has been a key cog in the varsity lineup each of her first two seasons and will continue to be a big part of the team during her junior season. For the diehards, Coach Boehm was lookin' fly, drippy, and quite glorious in his black on black outfit, complemented by a grey belt and grey golf shoes. The fashion police approved the fit. Well done, Coach Boehm.
