Yorktown boys tennis falls to Shelbyville The Tigers faced Shelbyville on Wednesday, Aug. 27. The varsity team lost 0-5, and the JV squad finished with 4 wins and 5 losses. At No. 1 varsity singles, senior Reid Butts fell 1-6, 0-6 against his opponent, and No. 2 and No. 3 faced a similar fate: Senior Silas Carder lost 5-7, 0-6, and junior Aaron Buehler went 1-6, 2-6. Unfortunately, varsity doubles action struggled too: No. 1 senior duo Palmer Jones and Noah Kelly lost 2-6, 0-6, and at No. 2, sophomores Colton Nickols and Jackson West fell 2-6, 2-6. This result puts the Tigers' varsity team at 3-4 (and 0-2 conference) for the Fall 2025 season. The JV squad posted a few Ws for the night. Most notably, at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, Nolan Clark (10) and Ethan Hellems (10), respectively, bested their opponents by identical scores (6-4). Later into the night, at No. 5 and No. 6 doubles, three guys — Dane Carroll (9), Hunter Heidenreich (10), and Zach Schaal-Deresh (9) — combined to put a few more checks into the 'win' column for the Tigers: 6-3 and 6-2. After this 4 win / 5 loss decision, the JV team also sits at 1-2 (and 0-2 conference) for the Fall 2025 season. The Tigers' boys tennis team has another away meet at Tipton on Thursday, Aug. 28. The match starts at 5:30 PM.
