Despite without question our best ball-striking round of the season, the Lady Tigers failed to advance as a team to next weekend’s regional, due largely to a difficult putting day. Sometimes, the hole just isn’t big enough, and Crestview’s large greens were a difficult challenge for us and were the main hindrance to a team score that would have propelled us to regional as a team. As Happy Gilmore once expressed, the ball was just too good for its home.
Bella LaPierre, continuing her strong junior season, fired a 91 and will advance to Regional @ The Edge on Saturday the 28th. Fairly consistent scores backed Bella up on Saturday, with Finley’s 99, VanOoteghem’s 101, and Layton’s 103 rounding out the team scoring. Eden Hathaway, not far behind, shot 104, including a sub-50 round in the final nine holes of her career.
The Lady Tigers return all but Hathaway next season, so big things are in store for a young and energetic squad.
Winchester won the event with a score of 360, followed by a very strong 362 from our friends at Daleville, and Muncie Central’s 383 (led by individual champion Teddi Bishop’s 74). Delta, just on the outside looking in, shot 385. Laura Fowler, a Delta Eagle, earned the final individual spot in next weekend’s regional by winning a playoff on hole 1.
Come support Bella next weekend @ The Edge (formerly Edgewood) in Anderson–Looking forward to strolling around the golf course and cheering on our #1 player!
