The Yorktown Boys JV soccer team shut out the Jay County Patriots 4-0 after 40 minutes of play Saturday afternoon in Portland, IN. Brad Jenkins opened the scoring within 10 minutes of play as he outmuscled a Patriots defender at the top-right corner of the Jay County penalty box, cut inside, and slotted his shot far post past the Patriots goalkeeper (1-0). Nearly ten minutes later, Kiernan Waterman fed Zach Wright a pass from the left flank, which Wright directed to the top-left of the box and smashed home for the Tigers’ second goal of the match (2-0). Tanner Kruger had fans jumping out of their seats as he broke away from the center circle with the ball which he guided past the Jay County defense, into the box, and past the Patriots’ goalkeeper (3-0). Aiden Riegle concluded the Tigers’ scoring with a stunning corner kick from the left that curled into the goal at the near post as the period was winding down.
