The Yorktown Tigers Boys JV soccer team came away with a 2-0 win on the road at Muncie Central High School Monday night, September 21. The Tigers earned the lead midway through the first half with a Zach Wright corner kick which resulted in an own goal header into the home side’s net (0-1). Despite a strong start from Muncie Central, the Tigers found a rhythm and kept driving at the Bearcats’ defense. Yorktown sealed the game before halftime with a quality give-and-go play between Aiden Riegle and Riley Marvin. Riegle played Marvin central who immediately poked Riegle back wide on the left for him to slot past the Bearcats’ keeper to double the Tigers’ lead (0-2). Quality play was had all across the field and the Tigers earned themselves another clean sheet to keep their winning streak going at 3 straight wins. Carter Fauquher is credited with having the clean sheet on the night. Freshman Riley Marvin earned the JV Man of the Match award with his fierce presence and constant creativity in the offensive third of the field. The Tigers record is 5-3. Both JV and Varsity are back in action Wednesday night at Yorktown Sports Park against Greenfield Central.
