Yorktown Boys JV soccer team lost a tough game against Greenfield-Central on Wednesday night, 3-0. Carter Fauquher was injured in goal by a collision with a GC striker, so Alan Goode went in goal for Yorktown. Goode made some key saves to keep the Tigers in the game to keep it at 0-0 at the intermission. The boys had to dig deep with only two subs available in the first half and one half available in the second. The Tigers showed flashes of putting pressure on Greenfield, but were not able to attack with any strong efforts on goal.
The Tigers’ defense also came up big on the evening with Ethan Merkle fending off multiple efforts from the Cougars. Jacob Clark also played strong defense for the Tigers. Matthew Schaller and Zach Spangler held tough from the left side of the back line to help clear the box as well. MInsung Kim selflessly headed out any balls that came flying in his way. Greenfield Central ultimately broke through Yorktown’s defense and ended with a result 3-0 to the home team. The Tigers will return to the field of play on Tuesday, October 1 at Marion High School. JV will begin at 5:30 PM and Varsity will follow at 7:00 PM.
