The Yorktown Tigers JV Boys Soccer team lost the to Mount Vernon Marauders 6-0 on Tuesday night. This game came at the end of a Tigers 4-game (5-game for varsity) stretch in just 8 days. In 90 degree heat, the Tigers – already battling injuries – were stretched to dig deep and put in quality minutes while utilizing subs to help keep everyone healthy and hydrated. Yorktown started well defensively and was even pressing onto the Marauders’ side of the field for the first 15 minutes, but Mount Vernon found their stride and slotted in 3 goals before halftime. Carter Fauquher was in goal for half number one and recorded 3 goals against with 5 saves. Alan Goode took over in goal for the Tigers for the 2nd half. Unfortunately, the Tigers could not stop the Marauders from getting 3 more goals to concluded with the 6-0 scoreline. Alan Goode recorded 3 goals against with 2 saves. Notable performances: Ethan Merkle (defense), Min-Sung Kim (defense), Matthew Schaller (defense), Preston Hargis (defense), Zach Spangler (defense), and Carter Fauquher (GK/midfield). The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday as they head to Shelbyville for the next contest.
