The Yorktown Boys JV soccer team opened their season with a loss at home to conference rival New Palestine Dragons, losing 1-4. The Tigers and Dragons went into halftime deadlocked 0-0. New Palestine came out swinging in the 2nd half as they put 4 goals past the Tigers within the first 25 minutes of the restart. Yorktown did not go down without a fight, however. Sophomore striker Aiden Riegle played a short corner to Junior Matthew Schaller who laid the ball back wide for Riegle to smash across the box – through the hands of the Dragons’ goalkeeper – which landed at the foot of Freshman Riley Marvin who poked in the Tigers’ JV opening goal of the season. The Tigers begin the season 0-1 and will be back in action Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Jay County High School.
