Yorktown Boys JV Soccer lost to Pendleton Heights 1-0 in a battle until the final whistle. The Tigers were unable to score against the Arabians, but that did not take away from the intensity of the game. Yorktown and Pendleton went back and forth exchanging shots against each other. Jacob Clark and Jason Lynn worked hard to support the attack along with Aiden Riegle and Alan Goode who were able to cut past the backs of Pendleton Heights. Unfortunately, none of these chances came out with a Tigers score. Justin Lynn, Brad Jenkins and Jacob Stone worked the ball around well to the strikers to go toe-to-toe with the Arabians’ center mids. The Tigers back line of Ethan Merkle, Matthew Schaller, Preston Hargis, and Zach Spangler as well as Min-Sung Kim played tough to keep a clean scoreline throughout the first half. It wasn’t until an unfortunate handball in the box in the 2nd half that led to a late penalty kick for the Arabians. Pendleton Heights did convert the penalty kick to take the lead, 1-0.
The Tigers did not get discouraged as they pressed high and came up with shots even as time expired on the game clock. Carter Fauquher came up big for the Tigers in goal with 1 goal against but making 9 saves on the night. The Tigers are in action again Saturday at home against Herron High School. JV plays first at 10:00 AM and Varsity will follow at 12:00 PM.
