The Yorktown Boys JV Soccer team lost a tough game at home to Jay County Monday night. Despite being short staffed with injuries and player absences, the Tigers fought hard against the Patriots who opened the scoring in the 1st half. Jay County scored off of a cross that slipped through the keepers hands and landed in the box for Jay County to head home. Yorktown did well to put Jay County on their heels prior to halftime, but came up short with no goals in favor of the home team before the halftime whistle. Jay County doubled their lead in the second half with a penalty kick called for a handball in the box. The Patriots converted their PK for the 0-2 lead. Yorktown fought back again and this time was rewarded for their efforts. The Tigers pressed hard late in the 2nd half and earned a penalty kick themselves. Kelby Parker stepped up and buried the kick low into the side netting to get a goal back for Yorktown, 1-2. Zach Spangler played goal for the Tigers in the 1st half; Carter Fauquher was in between the posts for the 2nd half. Spangler had 7 saves with 1 goal against and Fauquher had 5 saves with 1 goal against as well. Notable players from the match: Ethan Merkle (defense), Matthew Schaller (defense), Min-Sung Kim (defense), Preston Hargis (defense), Brad Jenkins (midfield), Kelby Parker (midfield/defense), Aiden Riegle (forward/mid).
