The Yorktown Lady Tigers traveled to Crestview Golf Club for an away match against Muncie Central and Marion and were defeated in a close match by Central (206-210). Marion brought only three girls on the trip and therefore did not have a team score.
Leading Yorktown once again was Bella LaPierre, who shot 46 and was four strokes behind medalist Teddi Bishop’s 42. Grace Finley’s 53 was followed by Tweedy with 54 and Layton and VanOoteghem, who both shot 57.
For those curious regarding the conditions for this competition, early evening storms delayed the match for a period of time, as athletes, coaches, and spectators took shelter to avoid the storms in the area. Once play resumed, a strong wind continued to challenge the players, who (I can now confirm) all survived the match and were home by 8:46 pm for homework, studies, and “general silliness.”
The girls will be back in action in a big way next week, with three nine-hole events during the week and Conference on Saturday. Trust the process, Ladies. Scores are going to drop.
